Both Florian and Caitlin are voice teachers with extensive experience in coaching singers from a wide range of voice types and backgrounds. OVC studio caters for singers aged 18 and upward, with the philosophy to work in partnership with each singer to extend his or her vocal potential.
Using targeted exercises and enjoyable fitting repertoire, the instruction during coaching is grounded in an accurate anatomical and acoustic understanding of the voice. Questions are encouraged, and topics such as alignment and breathing, phonation and resonance, articulation and coordination are thoroughly addressed, giving you the tools for communicative and expressive singing. We can develop short and longer term practice plans with you that fit to your personal goals, so sessions are matched to your pace and wishes.
Florian began as a boy soprano soloist in Austrian festivals such as „Steirischer Herbst“ and during the years of voice change he studied both law and French horn. Having worked as a freelance as a French horn player, a teacher and as a music journalist, he then gained a teaching diploma from the Conservatory of Wiener Neustadt. Florian also completed master of musicology degree in which his subject of research was Schubert Lieder. Deciding to pursue developments in his voice after this time, he undertook a Masters in Lied and Oratorio, studying with Robert Holl at the University of Vienna. He is now a freelance tenor, performing in opera, concert and recital. For information about Florian's past and future performances follow.
Florian's teaching is informed by his Austrian musical heritage and by his own training with respected London voice coaches Prof. Janice Chapman and Paul Farringdon. He is a member of the BVA and currently teach students in Oxford London and Vienna. Florian is also a certified Rolfing ® manual therapist with studios in Oxford and London see: www.align-in-time.co.uk. Rolfing Structural Integration focusses on the fascial layers of the body to optimise alignment, which can be of great benefit singers. Special voice-oriented Rolfing sessions are available on request for OVC students. In addition, Florian is a Tomatis ® Grade 1 practitioner and can offer this auditory attention training to singing students to support aural issues, balance and relaxation.
